FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS
Flammable Storage
Flammable and combustible liquids, gases, ignitable solids, aerosols, and combustible metals can produce rapid fire growth, high heat release, and, in some cases, vapor accumulation leading to flash fire or deflagration.
Fire protection systems are designed to control or suppress fire involving stored flammable materials at an early stage to limit fire growth and prevent extension beyond the storage area.
System selection is based on material classification, quantity, storage arrangement, and building construction. Fire suppression systems may be designed as dry chemical, foam, or clean agent systems.
FLAMMABLE STORAGE AREAS
Bulk Storage Tanks. Drum Storage. Storage Cabinets. Fuel Storage Rooms. Pump Rooms. Loading Racks.
FLAMMABLE STORAGE MATERIALS
Gasoline. Solvents. Paint Thinner. Alcohols. Propane. Acetylene. Aerosol Containers. Flammable Chemical Solids. Combustible Metals (Aluminum, Magnesium). Untreated Wood. Lumber. Sawdust. Paper. Cardboard. Textiles. Cotton. Celluloid (Nitrocellulose Film). Acetate-Based Film. Photographic Negatives. Archival Paper Documents.
